 Nicaraguan Redeyed Treefrog |
Wow! It is raining frogs in Montclair. In the last few days we have purchased some incredible groups of frogs. CB 2005 Nicaragauan Redeyed Treefrogs. Eating 1.5 week crix, great colors. Blue flank coloration just starting to come in. Cardinal red eyes, orange fingers, lime green bodies... WOW! You want these. These are like a box of crayons.
 Brazilian Milk Frog |
The next frog on our 'frog tour' is the Brazilian Milk Frog, aka Cave Frog (Phrynohyas resinifictrix). CB 2005 in the USA. Totally one of the world's cutest frogs. Bold bands with a subtle Robin's Egg blue coloration. Fantastic tree dwelling frog. Hardy, easy to feed, getting as long as but a bit leaner than White's Treefrogs. Check out the image.
 Blue Dart Frog |
What can I say about this one? We are proud to have just recieved a small shipment of Blue Dartfrogs (Dendrobates azureus) which are a bold and beautiful species. The babies we just got are bigger than a quarter. Feeding on one week crickets. Very active and alert. Due to the large size these individuals will do well as a first dartfrog for the dartfrog beginner.

 EUREKA - 16ft and 150#+ |
Animals gravid or laying eggs all over town. Our multiple incubators are all fired up and either cooking eggs or waiting. The python incubator is the only one awaiting eggs. Eureka our huuuuge female albino Burmese python is developing eggs as I type this. She had a pre-lay shed on March 19. Get ready boys and girls. She had 63 eggs last year. I am guessing 80 this year with some folks guessing over 90! Only time will tell.
 TOOOOO CUUUUUTE!! |
We just got a box of baby Hermann's Torti this morning. They look great. Check out the image. You can even see the egg tooth! We have already sold a pile of this gentleman's babies. He always sends the best. If you want hermanni then this is the time to get them. Early. You will get six extra months of growth before hibernation season arrives.
Man, I love this Nikon Coolpix. It certainly has big league capabilities. The images posted here today are direct from the camera. No photoshop or cropping at all.
 FEED ME... NOW! |
It seems west Africa will be early this year. Savannah monitor babies already here! Ball pythons are rumored here in a week or so. If you want babies (even groups of females) call Scott @ 909.447.5103 and set it up so we can cherry pick some for you. The savannahs are really doing awesome, ready for you to grow out. If you want to breed them buy two now. It seems they always grow up a pair when we sell two together. We have a good supply but these are popular so if you want savannahs don't delay. You could miss out!

Strawberry Sweet Dartfrogs just landed. |
Well the spring equinox has happened and spring is officially here. Oh well, we are still getting cold rain so the reptiles aren't really moving yet out in the hills. Seems to be a banner year for local amphibians though. Frogs and toads still calling and breeding every night rain or not.
 Our store incubator 3-21-05 |
One nice thing is the pets in our area really think spring is here. Female dragons laying eggs almost every day now. Leopard geckos hatching already. Check out the incubator. Nearly half full and it is not even April yet!
The weather man tells us we will break the all time record for rain in LA tonight. We are 0.03" short of breaking it. Nearly forty inches of rain this season. We are aware many of you are Gotta love that salad. |
experiencing foul weather as well. We are holding orders for folks all over the northeast due to weather. If you are waiting to order because weather... DON'T. We'll hold it for you. Don't miss out on that desired specimen because of weather. We don't run your credit card until we ship.

 PERUVIAN RAINBOW BOAS |
I have been wanting to make a post for weeks. Time is a four letter word! We have been getting shipments of animals that have sold out without making the web. We apologize to our netizen customers!
We recently received shipment of some very sweet rainbow boas. Both Peruvian (E. c. gaigae) and Brazilian (E. c. cenchria). Both groups came from BRAZILIAN RAINBOW BOAS |
some of the top breeders in the world for these taxa. All are two foot plus and eating small mice. No tiny newborns in either group. I have included photos in this posting. In the next week we'll try to get individual photos of every individual up. If you seek to own these species you can trust us to send the best of the best. Order now before the ads get put up and others start buying the specimens you desire!

I AM BACK!! | RSS Feed |
POSTED BY SCOTT
I am back in the shop, well rested and ready to take on the new year. I hope all of you had a terrific holiday season. The weather in Hawaii was actually a little rough with lots of storms in the highlands so I did not get to look for Jackson's Chameleons. It was really something I did want to do, maybe next time! We saw literally scores of Humbback Whales. Both on a boat and from the pool at the hotel with a beer in hand. Because we saw so many whales we saw many behaviours. Males fighting over females, breeching, fin waves, tail waves and more. Amazing animals.
As for reptiles? Maui is very sad reptilewise. I saw and caught a couple of species of house gecko, the green anoles seen in another post, tons of Cane Toads (Bufo marinus) and that is it. Nothing else. No skinks, no snakes and no treefrogs (despite the favourable weather for Lukas with his pet horned lizard |
them). It is a good thing the snorkeling was so good. I have no photos for the moment. I have to bring in my laptop to make that happen. Keep watching here for some images. You'll be pleased you did.
Yesterday a young customer named Lukas brought in his pet horned lizard. He caught the animal near Burro Creek, AZ. Check out the photos. The animal is eating one week old crickets and is under a self ballasted mercury vapor lamp for heat and UVB. We have seen a few others in the last year do well under these light bulbs. Besides these lights it seems the key is to keep them well hydrated. We also tell our local customers who want to try keeping horned lizards they must provide a Closeup of Lukas' pet |
shallow water dish. The lizards do indeed stand in this dish. We also advise to keep them in fine sand perhaps three to five inches deep. We have them pour water into the sand on the cool end of the enclosure keeping the subsurface sand constantly moist. This is where the lizards sleep. They exhale moist air and inhale moist not dehydrating a drop while sleeping. I love the fact knowledge and new products are making the keeping of this once nearly impossible genus quite doable even by beginners. They have to be willing to buy a relatively expensive light bulb and feed daily all the while keeping a close watch on the water. It is my feeling a short dehydration damages their kidneys they never really recover and they die months later. Keep 'em well hydrated and they eat crickets, grow and thrive many more times than in the past.
